Pages 11-20
At the end of Chapter 1, the boy notices two things: he smells ham bone that he has only smelled twice in his life and his mother is humming, which she only does when she is worried. My first question is why do you think his mother is worried when they have the precious ham bone? My second question is do you have any nervous habits that signal to others that you are scared or worried about something? Explain! :)

Tommy: I think mom is worried about the ham bone because the ham bone is the only food they have. Yes I have nevouse habits like when the whether goes bad and racing.
Mikayla: I think the mom is worried about the ham bone because it said in the book that hehad only smelled it once in his life so I think that they are running out of food to eat.That is why she is worried so much about the ham bone.
And yes I do some times have a nevous habit when I have to go to the neighbors houseduring a tornado.
